Castle Combe, the National Trust owned village of Lacock, stately homes of Longleat and Bowood House are also within easy reach of the town.



There are small informal camping sites around Wiltshire within reach of the town. Merkins Farm is one such example being situated on the outskirts of the picturesque Saxon town of Bradford on Avon and only 8 miles from Bath. The area boasts a wealth of National Trust properties, two within walking distance and the Wiltshire cycle route literally on the doorstep and the Kennet and Avon Canal in Bradford on Avon. Further away between the town and Trowbridge is Stowford Manor Farm which is a small family run camp site with the river Frome on one side next to the medieval buildings of Stowford Farm. 200 metres downstream from the campsite is the only river swimming club in the country and you can become an instant member for a small fee. Bed and breakfast is available in the Mill House where the bedrooms overlook the tranquil setting of the garden and the river. A family suite is available that can accommodate up to a family of 5 is also available.
