Restaurants in Wiltshire range from traditional to contemporary with menus to suit every palate. Wiltshire has many restaurants to dine the night away.
Trying the various cuisines on offer when visiting Wiltshire will entice you back to our County again and again. There are so many restaurants, inns and cafes you really are spoilt for choice and no matter how many meals you can eat in a day you will never get to try all the menus!
If you are partial to an Indian meal then why not visit the Royal Jaipur at Landford, perfectly placed on the main A36 trunk road between Salisbury and Southampton. They have a large menu which contains many exceptional dishes as well as a good selection of beers. With over 35 different wines to choose from there is a bottle to compliment your meal from starters to sweets.
Moving to Salisbury City Centre, very close to the Railway station is the Shah Jahan Indian Restaurant. Taking its name from the man who had the Taj Mahal built in loving memory of his wife, the Shah Jahan Indian restaurant, in Salisbury, boasts a good long-standing reputation with locals and visitors alike. Established 16 years ago this small restaurant is known for its consistently good food. It is open seven days a week including bank holidays 12 noon - 2.30pm and 6pm - midnight. The Shah Jahan prides itself on suiting all palates and newcomers to the Indian menu and will be helpfully guided by Mr Ali and his team, to the more delicate dishes. Likewise those regulars who know what they like can have a large choice of 'chef specials'. Interestingly, as new dishes are created they tend to become the best sellers, so this menu is one that is constantly evolving. All diners can discuss their tastes and have 'special orders' made up by head chef Abdul Salik to create the right dish for your palate. Special choices are available for vegetarians and there are a few English dishes available kept on at the managers' discretion for the occasional children's choice.
Wiltshire has many pubs with restaurants which is a good way of combining the traditional English pub with a fantastic meal. One of these establishments worth a mention is the Black Horse at Cherhill, Calne. Open everyday, food is served at lunchtime and from 6pm to 9pm each evening. Owned by Arthur Hall, MBE you are sure of a warm welcome at this 18th Century public house. The Chefs special board changes weekly and the menu is changed seasonal ensuring a varied meal at all times. Vegetarians are also well catered for. This pub/restaurant has built up a reputation for exceptional food and service provided in a relaxed and friendly environment.
