Although The New Forest is within the county of Hampshire it is bounded on west and north by Dorset and Wiltshire. The main towns within The New Forest are Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst with Ringwood and Fordingbridge at the edges.
The forest is a former royal hunting area created by William I, or William the Conqueror as he is better known, in 1079. Now designated a National Park with strict regulations governing any development it is an unspoilt tract of heathland and forest, perfect for all manner of leisure activities and a place to unwind and relax.
