This famous World Heritage is on the edge of military ranges and Salisbury Plain. The Stone Circle is remote and stands on a very exposed hillside. So you should ensure you are well wrapped before venturing near the stones as on all but the warmest of summers days there is often a cool breeze present
The nearest centre is the small country town of Amesbury less than ten minutes drive from the car-park at the monument site. There are other small villages scattered around, mainly along the Avon Valley and on the edges of Salisbury Plain.The Fairlawn Hotel
