Marlborough is in the heart of Wiltshire. Whilst this historic town, a mixture of medieval and Georgian buildings, offers stylish independent shops cafes and restaurants the town also makes an ideal base for exploring the surrounding historic and beautiful countryside by car, bicycle or on foot.

The ancient Savernake forest is close to the town and although privately owned it is accessible to walkers and cyclists with car parking areas available. A few miles to the southeast of the town is the Kennet Avon canal with its easy level walking and cycling along the towpath and plenty to interest the visitor.
World Heritage sites of Avebury, Silbury Hill, West kennet Long Barrow and Stonehenge are also within easy reach.

Oxford, Salisbury, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Bath are an hour and London can be reached in just over an hour.

Throughout the year there are local events, exhibitions and courses in and around Marlborough. These include the International Jazz Festival (July), Marlborough College Summer School (July-August) Marlborough Mop Fairs (October), The Barbury Horse Trials up on the Marlborough Downs at the end of July, and a host of other events.
