Valid only when booked directly with us.DescriptionSwaynes Firs is an 11 acre smallholding owned by Arthur Shering since 1971 and run as a bed and breakfast since 1983. We mainly keep beef cattle and a variety of poultry. We try to create a haven for our song birds, which we have encouraged over the years with feeding and habitat.Swayes Firs is close to Salisbury and ideal for touring the many heritage sites. Children are welcome to help with egg collection or feeding of our birds or animals. To those with an interest in the past Swaynes Firs is fascinating because the Grimsditch runs through the farm. This was constructed in the Bronze Age (1000BC to 500BC) for farming purposes and as a tribal Celtic boundary ditch. It is also locally known as the Grimsdyke or Devils Ditch. We have 3 bedrooms, one a family room which can accommodate up to 4 people and two twin rooms, one on the ground floor for easy access and one on the first floor. For breakfast we serve a wide variety of cereals, fruit, yogurt and orange juice to start with. We serve a full English Breakfast using our own free range eggs and local produce where available. We have a continental breakfast for those who prefer something lighter. Why not try our scrambled eggs made from our duck eggs, a poached egg on toast or boiled egg with soldiers? Homemade Blackcurrant Jam, Raspberry Jam and Seville Orange Marmalade is served with our toast. The Blackcurrants and Raspberries used in our jams are 'home grown' and pesticide free. We hope you enjoy staying with us as much as we enjoy living here.
