DescriptionA 2ND HANGAR IS NOW OPEN - This exciting and unique collection of aircraft, cockpits replicas and models relates the unique aviation history of Wiltshire’s world renowned Boscombe Down experimental airfield.
Please note Winter and Summer opening times
In an era of military aviation development that will never return Boscombe Down was at the forefront with its dedicated military flight test centre. You are free to wander around the collection and see up close the technical wizardry of the machines. Children will be amazed by this impressive collection and even more so when they are allowed to sit in a cockpit (under adult supervision of course) and use the controls.
As part of its mission the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection aims to stimulate, educate and nurture the interest of youngsters in the clever and sophisticated technology of our recent past. Experienced and friendly guides are on hand to answer any questions they may have.
Children must be supervised at all times.
The collection is in the hangar of the active Old Sarum grass airfield, one of the oldest military airfields in the UK, still in constant use, where you can enjoy watching the light aircraft arriving and departing.
There is a shop selling aviation related items and a café on the airfield.
