The World Heritages sites of Stonehenge and Avebury circles are within easy reach by car as is Silbury Hill and Marlborough. Iron Age hillforts, ancient burial mounds, abound throughout the county of Wiltshire. More ’modern’ historical artefacts such as Crofton Pumping Station, the oldest working steam-driven Beam Engine in the country and the Wilton (village) windmill is close by and well worth a visit.
