A baker, the village posr office and store and two pubs offering meals are very close by.The village has excellent rail and road connections to the West Country and London and the cottages are only five minutes walk from the railway station which is alongside the canal. Masons Yard Cottages in Great Bedwyn are the perfect base not only for walking and cycling but to explore the heart of Wiltshire. Fifteen minutes drive away is the ancient borough of Marlborough and the Savernake Forest. A little further is the World Heritage site Avebury Stone Circles, arguably a more interesting site than its cousin of the same age Stonehenge in the e south of the county. Locally there is the Crofton Pumping Station to visit with the world’s oldest working beam engine as well as the Wilton Windmill both of them open to the public but you will need to check the opening times. The well appointed and recently refurbished cottages, two each with a double room, the third with a twin and a double, are in a quiet central location of the village with amenities and shops very close by. There is a local bakery, two village shops (one next door to the cottages) and a post office where you will find everything you need. All you have to bring is yourselves ! There is a wide choice of food available at the two village pubs The Three Tuns and The Crosskeys. Secure parking is available in the yard outside the cottages’ doors and everything is so convenient. The cottages are fully equipped with comprehensive drying and laundry facilities available in a separate utility room at the end of the block. Great Bedwyn is the archetypal picturesque and friendly Wiltshire village of thatched cottages and has a population within the parish of around 600 residents. The village is served by frequent and frequent train services to and from London and the West Country with a regular bus service into nearby Marlborough. The railway station is only five minutes walk away and lies next to the Kennet and Avon canal.
