Self catering in Devizes town, holiday cottages and rentals are limited but further out in surrounding villages there is a good choice.

Devizes has much to offer the visitor and being situated on the Kennet and Avon Canal as it is there are the added pleasures of boat trips, walking and cycling along this famous and historic waterway. Less than 10 minutes walk from Devizes Wharf is the spectacular flight of 29 locks at Caen Hill.

Other attractions include the Wiltshire Heritage Museum, of international repute, in Silver Street which houses outstanding collections spread over several floors tracing the fascinating history of Wiltshire, its environment and its people for the last 6000 years.

There are weekly markets in the Shambles each Thursday and a host of other events such as the spectacular Devizes Carnival, one of the premier carnivals of the South of England. Carnival week kicks off on the August Bank holiday period and continues through the week with Street Parades culminating in the grand Carnival parade proper on the following Saturday.

Another event well worth catching is the gruelling 125 mile annual Devizes to Westminster Canoe Marathon Race at Easter. This is held every Easter and starts out from Devizes Wharf with crews departing at regular intervals through the day.
Self catering in Devizes itself is very limited as apartments and cottage accommodation are mostly residential but on the outskirts of the town there is some self catering available.
