Pubs and Clubs in Wiltshire
Pubs and Clubs in Wiltshire are a great night out, whether you want to dance the night away in clubs or just sit and unwind in traditional pubs, visit Wiltshire.
Head for the Chapel nightclub in Salisbury City Centre where you will find a variety of music on offer, ranging from charts and cheese in the Courtyard, gyrating soul in the Soul room or funky and uplifting house in the Chapel room. Whatever your choice you can be sure of a fantastic night out in the Chapel which is an award winning nightclub. Starting in September there will be a Chapel bus connecting Salisbury with Andover and Winchester with special promotions at the Moloko Vodka Bar in Salisbury. For all you night owls the Chapel closes at 3am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday so there is no excuse for an early night!
If you want a slower pace of life and the traditional English pub then you should visit the Compasses Inn, near Tisbury, a 14th Century thatched free house. This pub has won many awards, in particular the Good Pub Guide 2004, County Dining Pub of the Year and the Good Pub Guide 2006 Rosettes for Food, Wine and Accommodation. The Compass Inn is set in the midst of the beautiful Wiltshire countryside and is a pub full of olde worlde charm. Unspoilt, offering the best in real ale, fine wines and freshly prepared food, its local reputation is hard to surpass. There is a children’s play area as well as a lovely garden with wonderful views of the area.
Close to the Kennet and Avon Canal and the heart of Savanake Forest stands a 16th Century thatched free house, restaurant and bed and breakfast. The Royal Oak at Wootton Rivers is a favourite with ramblers making use of the lovely scenic hill walks in the area and is situated on the famous Kennet and Avon Canal, near to Marlborough. Although the Royal Oak attracts many tourists who visit Wiltshire it is still very much a traditional local’s pub offering a games room with pool and darts and traditional board games.
Licensed for civil weddings since 1997 the Royal Oak can cater for all sized wedding parties from smaller groups indoors to larger wedding receptions held in the beautifully furnished marquee in their spacious gardens.
There are hundreds of pubs and clubs in Wiltshire that deserve a mention but we would still be writing this article in years to come! So whatever your taste, visit our very special County and see for yourself what we have to offer.
