Description

Stonehenge is less than one mile (2km) from this elegant Grade II listed 17th century coaching inn located in the ancient town of Amesbury. It is well placed to visit many attractions both ancient and modern in south Wiltshire.

The hotel has had recent extensive alterations and refurbishment and is set in a half acre walled garden complete with a Victorian ornamental fountain.
Amongst its many claims to fame the Beatles stayed in room 20 while they were filming ‘HELP’ on Salisbury plain. The 17 ensuite bedrooms are individually decorated and have their own style and character.

The hotel’s original charm and character have been retained and the hotels public rooms are reminiscent of a bygone era. The tastefully decorated hotel bar has double opening doors to a most impressive drawing room with full length south facing windows looking out on the beautiful gardens. Both the bar and the drawing room benefit from open log fires, which burn throughout the winter months. The hotel boasts 2 restaurants and only fresh local ingredients are used to produce excellent meals either in the bar or the restaurants. Our bar offers a range of real ales, with new guest ale each week, as well as a comprehensive wine list.

Accommodation
Relax in any one of our 16 individually decorated and furnished bedrooms. Room 10 with its King sized 4 poster bed and bubble bath, has beautiful views across our Victorian walled garden. Room 20 is nostalgically decorated in a 60's black and white theme reflecting the time that the Beatles stayed here. The room is also adorned with Beatle memorabilia.

All rooms have colour television, telephone with dial up facility to the internet, and beverage making facilities. Hairdryers and irons are available on request.

The Bar
Decorated in Liberty fabric giving it an old world charm. In the winter we have roaring log fires to warm even the chilliest of days. We pride ourselves on our real ale and always have guest ale on each week, which are also cask marque awarded. The atmosphere is warm and friendly.

Bar opening times – 11.a.m. – 11.p.m Monday to Saturday, 12.00 noon to 10.30 p.m Sundays and bank holidays.

The bar stays open later for special functions usually on Saturdays.
